CM: Reflections on De Ketelaere after forgettable debut season – meeting with agent planned

Charles De Ketelaere has never really got going in his first season as an AC Milan player, which could well lead to reflections in view of the summer window.

As Calciomercato.com report, despite the constant public support from Stefano Pioli, the management, his team-mates and the Milan fans, De Ketelaere’s season seems to be fizzling out towards something rather forgettable.

Patience is important when such young players are signed given the period of adaptation needed after a move to a new club in a new country with new expectations, but there are those beginning to doubt his suitability to the rhythms of the game of Italian football.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara maintain the strong belief that the Belgian is a talented player and that he can become a top player at Milan, but they are also aware that today the value of De Ketelaere is lower than the €35m paid last summer.

A meeting between Milan and De Ketelaere’s agents is expected at the end of the season to take stock of his first season with the Rossoneri.

All the difficulties encountered by the boy will be carefully evaluated and then a program for the future will be outlined. In recent days, enquiries have arrived regarding the former Club Brugge star and a loan cannot be ruled out.

A lot will depend on the 22-year-old’s will and his desire to return to being a protagonist, at Milan or elsewhere where he could get more playing time to grow.
