According to Calciomercato.com, the Milan hierarchy believe that Taremi could be their new starting centre-forward and not just a back-up for Olivier Giroud as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s replacement.

Milan presented a bid worth €13m for the Iranian striker, who will celebrate his 31st birthday tomorrow. Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani had the proposal rejected, and were told it will take a bid of €20-25m.

At the moment Porto are not willing to offer any discounts despite the fact Taremi’s contract expiring is in 2024, but negotiations have just begun.

Taremi returned to training today and he is admired by Milan because of his scoring record. He finished last season with 31 goals in 51 competitive games, and he has 80 goals in 147 matches for Porto.

His arrival would exclude that of Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze because he would take the final non-EU spot, but as a player with 45 goal contributions last season he may just take precedent.
