According to Calciomercato.com, on Tuesday the Milan technical director Geoffrey Moncada reactivated the pursuit of Manu Kone. The Borussia Mönchenglabdach midfielder is very much admired by the management and has been for several years.
The direct contacts were also useful to advance the negotiations for the renewal of Maignan’s contract, who shares the same agency – Excellence Sport Nation – with his compatriot Kone.
The dialogue between the parties continues with a great constructive spirit because both want to reach an agreement as soon as possible. Milan want to armour Maignan and make him leader of the new era under Paulo Fonseca.
He is seen as the captain without an armband and from what is filtering out there is great optimism regarding the success of the operation. Maignan for now is totally focused on the pitch and on helping the team get out of a difficult start to 2024-25, so only his agency are thinking about the renewal.
The initial request is around €8m net per season but there is room to negotiate. Milan believes that doubling the current salary of €2.8m is the right reward for the Frenchman, while feeling is that the negotiation could end conclude at around €6m per year.
