Calciomercato.com confirm that Spurs have won the race to sign Veliz from the Argentine club after a ‘sudden blitz’. They will pay his €15m release clause and have offered up €6m in bonuses which was more than enough to convince Rosario.
In the coming days, the 19-year-old is expected in London for his medical and the signing of a multi-year contract with the north London club.
Torino were keen on bringing him to Italy but had a bid rejected while Milan were also interested but more for the winter transfer window than the current one.
Veliz – who will soon be called up by Scaloni for the Argentina senior national team after impressing with the U20s at the World Cup – was convinced by Spurs’ desire to sign him immediately and by Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
