CM: ‘A win may not be enough’ for Fonseca as he hangs on ‘by a thread’

Paulo Fonseca is reportedly on the verge of losing his job, and this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina will be the deciding factor in his future. However, a report has suggested that a win may not be enough for him to stay at AC Milan.

For the Portuguese coach, he arrived to questions and they have only grown in volume since the start of the Serie A season. During the American tour, they were slightly quieter as his Milan side played well and were displaying signs of his football, but this has not translated to the proper season.

Instead, Milan now look lost in every phase of play. In defence, there are noticeable gaps and the Rossoneri have conceded the same goal on several occasions. Going forward, there are few ideas, and questions are once again being asked.

Generally, the squad do not look together, and there are reports of a split between the coach and the management.

As Calciomercato.com reports, with all of these variables, a win may not be enough to keep his job, because his squad are not playing his football and their attitudes are not those expected from a squad aiming for Scudetto success.

The project has been a ‘shipwreck’ so far and there is a clear disconnect, with the team not showcasing his ideas. Whilst there are not any changes expected before, Fonseca is hanging onto his job ‘by a thread’, and whilst a win in the Derby would release some pressure, another poor loss would restart the questions.
