Paulo Fonseca is reportedly on the verge of losing his job, and this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina will be the deciding factor in his future. However, a report has suggested that a win may not be enough for him to stay at AC Milan.
For the Portuguese coach, he arrived to questions and they have only grown in volume since the start of the Serie A season. During the American tour, they were slightly quieter as his Milan side played well and were displaying signs of his football, but this has not translated to the proper season.
Instead, Milan now look lost in every phase of play. In defence, there are noticeable gaps and the Rossoneri have conceded the same goal on several occasions. Going forward, there are few ideas, and questions are once again being asked.
Generally, the squad do not look together, and there are reports of a split between the coach and the management.
As Calciomercato.com reports, with all of these variables, a win may not be enough to keep his job, because his squad are not playing his football and their attitudes are not those expected from a squad aiming for Scudetto success.
The project has been a ‘shipwreck’ so far and there is a clear disconnect, with the team not showcasing his ideas. Whilst there are not any changes expected before, Fonseca is hanging onto his job ‘by a thread’, and whilst a win in the Derby would release some pressure, another poor loss would restart the questions.
Changing a manager after 4 matches is insane. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It takes time
Why was Paulo Fonseca employed as Milan manager in the first place? Because I keep on asking, what was Fonseca achievement when he coached AS Roma.
Rome wasn’t built by idiots with promises and cheap wood.
I’m pretty sure they did use cheap wood for something back then though.
It was mostly tuff that was used though, not wood.
Wood isn’t that used in southern Europe, but assume during those days, since forests covered a larger area, better quality wood could be found quite easily.
Milan cannot beat the present Inter team because Inter players are more focused and determined to win the match. There’s no magic that Milan can perform to beat Inter on Sunday night derby.
Milan defence is zero and Mike is not in inform at all.
With such a vulnerable defense, even the best goalkeeper would look bad.
The main thing is for the Coach and management to move in one direction, their are a lot of sensational statements about the sacking of the Coach, but the management needs to understand that supporting of the Coach is paramount, mistakes have been made by the management from the beginning, sacking Maldini was a mistake, some decisions about selling certain players was also a mistake, and bringing some players was also a mistake, the main culprit here is Chukweze, what needs to be done is to bring in new Italian players, either on the market or from the Futuro side, Zeroli, Coubis, Barthaseghi and Vos should be promoted fully, and when ever schedules permit, they can play games for the Futuro team, so that they can get match fitness, the most important thing is for the management to aupport the Coach, and for him to look at his work critically and make tough decisions like permanently benching Calabria and acknowledging Florenzi is no longer part of the team, and also between the management and the Coach do something about the Italian Quota in the team, which has been an issue for years..
Fonseca or not, until ibra, furlani and moncada leave all we can do is watch, suffer and repeat. The problem starts with the management.
If it was gerry, I would fire Ibrahimovic for his bad decisions and Furlani for signing long-term contracts and high salaries. I would reappoint Moncada as REDBIRD’s representative. The last thing I wouldn’t fire is Fonseca until further notice
