Despite losing, deservedly, Napoli coach Antonio Conte believes that his side dominated against AC Milan this weekend.
Football is often referred to as a game of opinions, and proof can be found in several different areas. Of course, the best way of doing so is through press conferences, where people are most likely to be more open than they would elsewhere.

Of course, this is where coaches also look to defend their players, and this can result in some questionable statements being made about results and performances. So, Conte’s post-Milan press conference is not really too shocking.

Conte’s view
This afternoon, ahead of his team’s Champions League game in midweek, he was asked about the preparation, and he spoke about the reaction to this weekend’s loss, as relayed by Calciomercato.com.
“We analysed the match very well yesterday, and the conclusions are that we played much better in this match than in the two we played against the Rossoneri last season. This year, we played dominantly, but we weren’t as focused as in the past.
“We need to improve certain situations because we could have done better on their goals.”
Perhaps Conte has just looked at the stats from the game, which, admittedly, do look like Neapolitan domination. However, it never seemed to be the case in the game itself.

It’s 2nd season, the delusions are starting. Classic Conte
Classic Conte. This is why I’ve always preferred Allegri over him. Napoli dominated in the second half after the red card but we will beat them again in Naples with Leao starting the game. I wonder what excuse he will have then. LOL
Has to prepare for a game every 3 days, Already has problems with De Bruyne, he is about to crack and quit by the end of the season.
Speaking of coaching, Pioli leading Fiorentina to a bottom half of the table finish this season unless they get rid off him earlier.
Always was and always will be a mediocre coach.
Someone tried to replace him but he su**ed the balls of the management and stayed as a coach.
Pioli Brought us from nothing when everyone else was failing. He had good times with Milan, mediocre is the two who tried to replace him.
He’s saying this to keep morale high for Napoli. Yes, they had more possession – but that’s because we wanted them to. We destroyed them on the counter and they did not look dangerous at all. Sure when we had 10 men they “dominated” possession but they did not score a single goal in the run of play. We in fact owned them, Allegri out coached him.
Playing every 3 days is hard, right? lol
Well, we have the 3 points in the bag.
Nnneeeexxxxxtttttttt
In other news, Conte was arrested for having three crack pipes on him, one of which he was hitting when police saw him, and he was jumping up and down and insisting that Pulisic, Rabiot and Modric were on the Napoli roster!
So thin skinned and insecure……
Poverino Antonio is it really ‘domination’ if Milan let you keep the ball after smoking you for 2-0 in the first half?
Yes, You did Mr. Conte…and lost the match. Allegri 1 Conte 0
But he’s right. Milan won, but Napoli carried the play the whole game. If it wasn’t for the individual brilliance of Pulisic, Milan would have lost. Plenty of games that the “better” team does not win.
In xG terms it was something like 3-1 to Napoli, so they obviously created a lot of decent chances. Somewhat ironically, I think their best ones were when we still had 11 men, Di Lorenzo’s miss and the Anguissa’s header in the second half from a few yards out. After the red, most of the shots were lower percent chances. So Conte isn’t wrong, but Milan were also much more clinical with chances and Napoli’s makeshift defence showed its weaknesses in key moments.
They’ll be fine though, still an excellent side with a few of their top players out.
Great thing about football: the team who dominates the game always wins, right? 😀 😀 😀
