Tuttosport: Contract hysteria weighs on Kessie – Milan made a big effort to keep him

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie is the centre of a storm at the moment as he seems destined to leave the club in June after what will be half a decade with the Rossoneri.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan)  talks about Kessie, who is virtually certain of a place in the starting XI in Friday’s game against Udinese at San Siro but only because Ismaël Bennacer is suspended, so the Ivorian will partner Franck Kessie.

Kessie has never given the impression in the past that he is a particularly sensitive player given that he has often stepped up under pressure in big games at the biggest stadiums, but the hysteria surrounding the fact he is drifting towards leaving Milan for nothing has added to the pressure on him.

When Kessié’s choice not to renew with Milan became clear, the fans decided to openly show their disapproval as happened two weeks ago at home against Sampdoria when they booed him in the warm-ups and when he came off the bench, in the first of two consecutive matches in which Kessié started from the bench.

Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Çalhanoğlu decided to leave for PSG and Inter on free transfers but they were protected and defended until the end by Stefano Pioli, team-mates and the club, but Kessie is bearing the brunt of increasingly angry voices.

Milan did everything to keep him though, even offering him a salary three times higher than the one he currently receives, but they are now preparing for his exit with Yacine Adli and Tommaso Pobega returning from loan while Renato Sanches has been targeted.
