The renewals have been in the pipeline for quite some time now and an announcement has been expected. However, on the final day of their current contracts, there is still no agreement in sight and the situation is indeed a bit worrying.
According to today’s edition of Corriere Della Sera, as cited by SempreMilan, Maldini recently sent back the proposed renewal to Elliott. In agreement with his lawyer, he made a series of modifications including getting more power than before.
As things stand, the American hedge fund seems unwilling to accept this and therefore, the whole situation could be delayed for several days or even weeks. The Rossoneri currently risk beginning the pre-season (July 4th) without a technical and sporting director.
