Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers, Milan’s current right-wingers, were both quite underwhelming this past season. Therefore, it’s not exactly surprising that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are scanning the market for a new right-winger.
Berardi, who ended the season with a staggering 15 goals and 17 assists (!), has been linked with a move to Milan. With those numbers, it’s easy to understand why. Today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews) decided to analyse the matter.
Being left-footed, he’s the perfect man for Stefano Pioli’s system as he’s able to shoot from distance but also take on his man, often with great success. He knows the league well and has shown great consistency over the years. In short, as the newspaper puts it, he’s perfect from a tactical point of view.
On the other hand, his price tag is very high and he’s not as young as some of the other targets in the same price bracket (27).
