CorSport: Why Berardi would be the ideal signing for Milan’s right wing

By Isak Möller -

Domenico Berardi is one of the many players that have been linked with AC Milan recently, given the Rossoneri’s need to reinforce the right-wing position. And he could be the ideal profile, a newspaper highlights.

Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers, Milan’s current right-wingers, were both quite underwhelming this past season. Therefore, it’s not exactly surprising that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are scanning the market for a new right-winger.

Berardi, who ended the season with a staggering 15 goals and 17 assists (!), has been linked with a move to Milan. With those numbers, it’s easy to understand why. Today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews) decided to analyse the matter.

Being left-footed, he’s the perfect man for Stefano Pioli’s system as he’s able to shoot from distance but also take on his man, often with great success. He knows the league well and has shown great consistency over the years. In short, as the newspaper puts it, he’s perfect from a tactical point of view.

On the other hand, his price tag is very high and he’s not as young as some of the other targets in the same price bracket (27).

  1. as compared to Zaniolo, I’d pick him yes.
But in case of Asensio or Pulisic or Mahrez or even Noa Lang I’d pick all of them over Berardi easily.

  2. Totally disagree with this article. Berardi for the price (30M?) is NOT what we need IMO. He is a fine player for Serie A – but is not dynamic, lacks speed, has no upside and doesn’t show up against top competition. To me he is a star player for a small team. We need to aim higher IMO – younger player with more upside, speed and can break the lines. Berardi isn’t that. Speed kills as we all saw with Leao. The old “slow” way of playing no longer works – the German press is the way to go. We need players who fit that system. Berardi isn’t it IMO. Hard pass

  3. From the very beginning have been against signing Berardi. No disrespect… But a dynamic faster and younger prospect is right for Milan.

  4. He’s good but not for that price. But as usual, a lot if Italian players these days are overpriced and overrated skillset.

No wonder there’s not many Italian players who did well outside Serie-A.

  5. If he is still age 20 or 21 just pay to sassoulo 30m euro but next season he is 28 years old and only have few season playtime . 15-20m euro already fair price for him, if sassoulo insist 30m euro just let them keep Berardi until free transfer like Torino did to belotti ( asking price very high)
