CorSport: Giroud on the scoresheet again – he is chasing records at 37

Olivier Giroud continues to be Mr. Reliable for AC Milan despite the fact he will turn 38 later this year, and he is still chasing records too.

This morning’s Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) talks about Giroud’s bond with European competitions, remarking that they are where he feels at home and where he has shown his best throughout his illustrious career.

In the autumn he scored a goal in San Siro’s 2-1 win over PSG and yesterday he netted again with a header to get his first goal at San Siro since the win at the beginning of January against Roma.

Before last night there had only been that one against Roma, the aforementioned goal in the Champions League and the brace against Torino. A curious note: Zima, who lost the Frenchman last night, was part of that Torino squad.

With yesterday’s achievement, the French striker reached 14 goals for the season. Now his goals will be needed even more if the Rossoneri want to continue their European campaign, and Giroud knows how to do it because he has already won the competition.

Meanwhile, the former Chelsea man is still chasing records. Yesterday’s goal was the 14th goal of the season as mentioned and thus he has already equalled his best tally with Milan, which was in the 2021-22 Scudetto campaign.

His personal best with the Milan shirt was recorded last season when he scored 18 goals in total so there is plenty of time to reach and surpass it.

Meanwhile, Giroud is second only to Harry Kane for headed goal: yesterday’s was the seventh, while the English centre-forward of Bayern Munich has scored one more. A specialty that, like him, never seems to get old.
