CorSport: ‘Ready for anything’ – Milan looking to looking to ‘armour’ Gabbia

Since his return to AC Milan in January, Matteo Gabbia’s trajectory has been firmly upward. The Italian defender has gone from strength to strength, and after solidifying his position in the team, two big things await him.

Having the season that Gabbia has had so far is astounding, especially considering his path to now. At the start of the year, the defender was a stop-gap assistant for the injury problems. However, in the months that have followed, he has cemented himself as a vital part of the Milan squad.

An ever-reliable presence at the back, and a leader. For Milanisti, he represents what has been missing for too long, a proper Rossonero – a player who shows spirit, fights for his team, for the fans, and more importantly the club.

For this, he has been rewarded heavily – scoring the winner in the Derby della Madonnina, and more recently earning his first senior Azzurri call-up.

However, the rewards do not stop there. It is reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) that the Diavolo wants to ‘armour’ him, by offering him a new five-year contract – an additional three years on his current deal, with a favourable salary increase.

As well as this, the captain’s armband could be given to him. Milan lack a leader at present, and the 24-year-old could be the perfect candidate. After all, his agent has stated that he is ‘ready for anything’.
