CorSport: Three targets identified as Milan shift mercato focus to the defence

AC Milan, led by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, are now ready to shift the mercato focus to the defence after securing Charles De Ketelaere. Three targets have been identified for the department, a report claims.

Since the exit of Alessio Romagnoli was made official, Milan have been scanning the market for a new centre-back. Several names have been linked with the club but it seems Maldini and Massara have narrowed it down to three players.

According to Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the main target for the defence is Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga. Talks have taken place between the clubs but the biggest obstacle remains the formula, with Spurs keen on a permanent exit for the 23-year-old.

The alternatives to the Englishman are Abdou Diallo (PSG) and Evan N’Dicka (Frankfurt). Milan consider them a bit too expensive for now but if the Tanganga talks were to break down completely, the Rossoneri will have to turn to them again.

With the CDK deal in the bag, we should hear more about the defence in the coming days as Maldini and Massara will work hard on the matter.
