A report from the Daily Mail starts by claiming that winger Allan Saint-Maximin has decided he wants to stay at Newcastle and play in the Champions League, which complicates their plans as he was being lined up for a sale to raise funds.
Now Saint-Maximin is looking to earn a new deal and will compete with Anthony Gordon for a starting spot on the wing, while he believes playing in Europe’s top club competition can ‘provide him with the platform’ to make the France squad also.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are believed to be in pursuit of Leicester City’s James Maddison but the valuation of £60m (€70m) has seen them look at alternative targets, such as RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Milan adds that ‘the merits of AC Milan’s Italy international Sandro Tonali’ have been floated again.
