AC Milan forward Daniel Maldini has revealed that it was a ‘dream’ to make his debut for the club in front of the San Siro crowd on Sunday.
Stefano Pioli was forced to use a different strike pairing for the 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona due to Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffering with the flu, and that opened up a spot in the squad for Maldini Jr.
The 18-year-old looked like being an unused substitute until the third minute of injury time when he came on to a positive reception, though he was unable to help Milan find a winner against 10 men.
After the game, Daniel Maldini was interviewed by Milan TV, and his words were transcribed by MilanNews.it.
“It was a dream, a shame about the result. We hope to bring home the 3 points next game,” he said.
“It was a goal that I set for myself [the debut], now we hope to go on like this. More could have been done, but there was still emotion.”
“We played a tough team, one difficult to face. Maybe we deserved the three points, but we brought home a draw.
