Gianluca Di Marzio confirms that Tonali is very close to leaving his boyhood club and starting a new challenge in the Premier League with Newcastle as the distance between the clubs over transfer fee continues to shrink.
Newcastle raised their offer to €70m plus €5m in bonuses most recently, getting closer to Milan’s request of €80m, and the feeling is that an agreement between the two sides will be found.
If the negotiation goes through, Tonali will sign a six-year contract with Newcastle worth €8m plus €2m bonuses per season, which is a potential commitment of €60m net in additional to the proposed €80m transfer fee, making it a huge package.
Tonali is currently away captaining Italy at the U21 European Championships, but it seems everything is being worked out regardless and the deal is imminent.
