AC Milan will open talks over the potential signing of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid this week, according to a report.
According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan continue to think about Morata as an option to reinforce the centre-forward department and in the coming days there will be the first real discussions between the parties.
The former Juventus player has a €10m release clause which makes him more of a low-cost option for the striker position. He knows the league well and has experience, which means the management think he could be a good alternative to Olivier Giroud.
However, the will of the Spain international and whether or not he will give the definitive go-ahead for a move back to Italy remains to be seen at the moment.
The name of Gianluca Scamacca remains in the background as a back-up plan, but he has already given his word to Roma.
