Atletico Madrid's Spanish forward Alvaro Morata

Di Marzio: Milan to hold first talks over €10m Atletico Madrid forward this week

AC Milan will open talks over the potential signing of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid this week, according to a report.

According to the latest from Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan continue to think about Morata as an option to reinforce the centre-forward department and in the coming days there will be the first real discussions between the parties.

The former Juventus player has a €10m release clause which makes him more of a low-cost option for the striker position. He knows the league well and has experience, which means the management think he could be a good alternative to Olivier Giroud.

However, the will of the Spain international and whether or not he will give the definitive go-ahead for a move back to Italy remains to be seen at the moment.

The name of Gianluca Scamacca remains in the background as a back-up plan, but he has already given his word to Roma.

  1. Before the usual people saying he’s not good enough, his profile and stats are very similar to Giroud and I would guess the thinking here is a short-term, reliable option to switch in and out with Olivier and allow us to focus on updating the CM, RW, AM roles in a summer where CFs are being hugely inflated in price.

Regardless of the usual moans about Morata, he’s experienced and consistent at top flight clubs and team mates generally like working with him.

    1. He is not good enoug. Tell me, why is it a good idea to pay almost 5M salary for a sub?
Doesnt sound short term at all to me.

        1. LOL. On one side you have the most underrated strikers of our time. Top goals scorer with France, won all a player can win.
On the other side you have Morata. His accomplishments? None.
Dont kidd yourself. He is way, way worse.
