Sky Germany claim that despite scoring 16 Bundesliga goals, Guirassy harbours ‘a certain degree of dissatisfaction’. He maintains a good relationship with coach Niko Kovac , he is not happy with the team’s style of play.
After two years and 59 goals in 95 competitive matches, the 30-year-old striker is now seeking a new challenge. Not only that, but there is a clause in his contract that has attracted various clubs, including Milan who need a new No.9.
Milan smell €50m deal
Sky add that the release clause in his deal is just €50m and can be triggered by seven top clubs. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal can activate it, but so far none of these giants have made a move.
Currently, Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Fenerbahce have expressed an interest, with the Rossoneri having been linked in the summer. These clubs would have to negotiate the transfer fee freely with Dortmund. As of now, however, none of them have approached BVB.
Borussia Dortmund’s stance is clear: they want to keep their striker, who is under contract until 2028. The Black and Yellows remain convinced of Guirassy’s qualities and know that they would have to dig deep into their pockets for an equivalent replacement.
An initial meeting with new sporting director Ole Book has already taken place. Sporting director Lars Ricken and coach Kovac are also determined to convince the striker to stay. Further talks are planned, but Guirassy’s decision is ‘seemingly set in stone’.
