Tiemoue Bakayoko and Matteo Gabbia seemed destined to leave AC Milan just a week ago. Things have changed since, though, and it remains to be seen if both or just one of them will leave this summer.

Bakayoko has been linked with an exit ever since January of this year, it feels like, while Gabbia appeared to be one step away from a loan move to Sampdoria. Nothing has materialised lately, though, and both have featured in the recent friendlies.
As highlighted by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, they have gone from exit-bound to having uncertain futures. The exits are no longer obvious and there are reasons to believe that at least one of them will remain this summer.
This past season, Gabbia was the 5th-choice centre-back and never complained about his role. Furthermore, he did quite well when called upon and for the upcoming season, he could get more space amid the departure of Romagnoli. The condition of Kjaer must also be assessed.
The same argument can be made for Bakayoko, who has played both friendlies for Milan thus far. In short, the Rossoneri need to sign a few players before getting rid of Bakayoko and Gabbia, meaning everything will depend on the mercato.
