Rossoneri director Zvonomir Boban has previously expressed his regret at not recruiting more experience during the summer, and we recently revealed that a January budget of €30-40m has been made available to add exactly that.
Links with Rakitic have emerged over the last fortnight, with Calciomercato.com‘s Daniele Longo even claiming that Rakitic is a major target for his compatriot Boban and talks with his entourage have begun.
According to Catalan outlet Sport – as cited by TMW – Rakitic’s will was to end the season at Barcelona, but the fact that coach Ernesto Valverde continues to leave him out has forced him to consider his future.
The 31-year-old has subsequently begun to consider saying goodbye to the Blaugrana in January, and the report adds that Milan are joined by Inter, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the race.
The midfielder has already apparently made his choice regarding possible future destination, rejecting the idea of a move to the Premier League in favour of Milano or the French capital.
