AC Milan clinched a convincing 6-1 win against Vicenza last night and thus concluded their official pre-season tour. It was the perfect ending for the Rossoneri but the same cannot be said for their city rivals Inter.
Stefano Pioli and his men were caught off guard at the start of yesterday’s game as they conceded after just 20 seconds. They came to life afterwards, though, and really showed Vicenza why they won the Scudetto.
Inter, meanwhile, lost 2-4 to Villarreal and are continuing to display some worrying signs ahead of the season opener. Something Gazzetta Dello Sport picked up on: “Milan you are beautiful. Goals galore against Vicenza but Tonali KO, he will miss Udinese. Inter you are defenceless. Four goals conceded vs. Villarreal and the defence under scrutiny.”
Corriere Dello Sport had a similar angle: “Inter, what a slap in the face. The defence collapses and sets off the alarm. Milan-show, 6-1 against Vicenza. Pioli anxious over Tonali and Messias.”
Tuttosport wrote the following: “Goals and problems for Milan. Tonali and Messias stop due to injuries.”
