Gattuso: “The whole team has grown on a technical and character level”

AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso praised his side for their growth in character following Saturday’s 2-1 win over Chievo.

Milan consolidated their third-place position in the Serie A standings with a 2-1 win over the rock bottom side.

“The whole team has grown on a technical and character level,” he told reporters.

“So many guys have grown up, so many important teams come to see them. We must be proud of this. We must continue to work because we still have ample room for improvement.”

Gattuso spoke about Zapata’s offer of renewal: “I know that the company has proposed a year of renewal and awaits the response of the player, but they are things for Leo and Maldini.”

His assistant Luigi Riccio spoke to Sky after the game, with Gattuso having not been present on the sidelines due to a touchline ban.

“There are times when you have to get points that are less clean, less bright, and Chievo has prevented us from doing what we wanted.

“We all wanted to get to this match with this type of classification, we know the difficulties of the derby, we will prepare this week.

“The derby is a particular match for Gattuso too, he knows what a derby means but manages it well.

“We are not surprised at the performance of Biglia, we know how he trains, we saw how passionately he wanted to recover.

“These are good problems, Bakayoko needed to catch his breath, even and above all from the mental point of view.”
