GdS: Colombo could remain at Milan next season – the situation

Lorenzo Colombo spent this past season on loan at Lecce but will return to AC Milan when the pre-season kicks off. Furthermore, it’s not certain that he will leave on loan again, as was first thought.

The 21-year-old did well during his loan at Lecce, getting six goals and assisting an additional two. He scored the penalty that secured Serie A salvation for the club, taking on that great responsibility just a few minutes after coming off the bench.

Lecce announced last night that they have triggered the buy-out clause, but Milan will make use of the buy-back to bring him back – which will effectively cost them €1m. And as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), he could stay with the first team.

Stefano Pioli will monitor closely during the pre-season and then make a decision on the future. A loan remains on the table, of course, but the manager wants depth he can rely on and Colombo could thus get decent playing time at Milan as well.
