GdS: Why David is the ‘easiest’ to sign in January out of Milan’s striker targets

AC Milan are looking for a striker to reinforce the team in January and Jonathan David is one of the players on their wish list. Although the Canadian is not the only one on that list, he’s reportedly the most suitable one for a January move.

Olivier Giroud has been forced to work overtime this season and his two-game suspension has really highlighted the lack of a proper backup. Against Fiorentina, Luka Jovic is expected to play from the first minute and he’s yet to find the back of the net for Milan.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Milan have three key targets for the No.9 role: Jonathan David (Lille), Serhou Guirassy (Stuttgart) and Akor Adams (Montpellier). Whether one of these can arrive in January, however, is the big question.

Even though he has the highest price tag at €40m, David is paradoxically the ‘easiest’ to sign in January, per the newspaper. His start to the season has been disappointing and with a decent offer, Milan could get the ‘yes’ of Lille.

Guirassy has a release clause of €17m but he plans to leave in the summer, while the situation is similar for Adams. Having said all of this, last-minute opportunities could emerge in January and other targets thus cannot be excluded for now.
