GdS: Gazidis to implement salary cap at Milan; Donnarumma and Ibrahimovic at risk?

With Paolo Maldini and Zvone Boban seemingly on the brink of leaving AC Milan, Ivan Gazidis will be able to fully commit to his project at the club this summer. By the looks of it, more measures could be taken to save money.

In January, Boban and Maldini did well to lower the Rossoneri’s wage bill overall, parting ways with the likes of Borini, Caldara, Reina and Suso. These four had among the highest salaries at the club, despite not being the top players.

As a result of the cut, they were able to bring in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose request isn’t exactly super low. However, as Gazzetta Dello Sport reports (via Milanlive.it), Gazidis is ready to implement a salary cap at the club, starting this summer.

The newspaper describes the cap as a ‘severe’ cap, which makes you wonder what the future will be for Gigio Donnarumma and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Will exceptions be made? In the coming months, more information on the matter should arrive. ‘
