La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) write how it was Giroud again who dragged Milan out of the disappointment of the Euroderby in the Champions League semi-finals, with the Frenchman scoring three times last night.
The 36-year-old appeared back to his best albeit against an opponent who have been poor all season, with wins against Juventus in Turin and Verona at San Siro now needed to close this season in the best possible way.
Giroud is the certainty of a Milan attack which has many question marks, starting with Zlatan Ibrahimovic who seemingly cannot stay fit and continuing with Divock Origi and Ante Rebic, who were not there against Sampdoria due to physical issues.
The Belgian missed the game against the Blucerchiati due to left adductor fatigue, while the Croatian had a blunt-sprain trauma to his left ankle right into training. Giroud, therefore, remains the Rossoneri’s only guarantee.
The 36-year-old hadn’t scored in front of Milan’s home fans for some time as his last home goal dates back to 13 March, in a 1-1 draw against Salernitana.
He decided to make up for it with a hat-trick, his first in a red and black shirt and his first for seven years, when he netted three times against Aston Villa with Arsenal.
