GdS: ‘Gyokeres on pole’ – Milan’s plan and targets to replace Giroud

AC Milan are searching for their Olivier Giroud replacement ahead of the summer transfer window and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres is currently the favourite.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), there are a number of strikers that Milan could move for in the summer transfer window but Gyokeres is said to be on pole right now.

Milan were in need of a new striker anyway but with Giroud expected to depart at the end of the season for MLS, the club know that they have to get the signing right.

The Sporting striker has got a €100m release clause but the club are not expected to stick to that, with a lower price potentially on the table. The 25-year-old has scored 30 goals this season for his club and is in remarkable form.

If a deal for Gyokores cannot be struck, one of the first alternatives is Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee. As long as Bayern Munich do not use their €40m buy-back clause, then he could be signed for around €60m.

Similar amounts of cash would be needed to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig or Santiago Jimenez from Feyenoord, whilst the cheaper options are currently Lille’s Jonathan David and Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy.
