GdS: Jovic and Giroud together – Pioli prepares surprise move for Udinese

Signs arrived from today’s training session at Milanello that AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is ready to try something different against Udinese by going with two up front.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pioli is aware that by fielding his usual 4-3-3 system he would have a hole on the right side but for Luka Romero, who the head coach himself admitted he ‘expected more’ from in the Napoli game.

Instead, the plan is for Luka Jovic to partner Olivier Giroud in a two-striker system, because Pioli wants the opponent’s 18-yard box to be filled much more, especially given that he expects them to play ‘deep’.

The four players certain to start are Yunus Musah, Rade Krunic, Tijjani Reijnders and Rafael Leao which seems to suggest the switch to a 4-4-2, therefore with Musah on the right, Krunic and Reijnders in the centre and Leao wide on the left.

There is also the possibility of seeing Leao – who has not scored in close to two months – more central on the pitch in something like 4-3-1-2, perhaps with Jovic and Giroud alternating to drop back a few metres.
