GdS: Milan will make a decision on coach soon – the candidates in the running

AC Milan intend to make the decision on their new coach very soon so the situation does not drag into the summer, with a number of names still in the running.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are now entering their final days with Stefano Pioli as the coach and everyone at the club knows that a new person will be in the hot seat when the 2024/25 season begins.

There is nothing to gain from Milan’s perspective for this coaching hunt to drag deep into the summer transfer window, as many signings will be dependent on the coach who comes in.

If they are to make an appointment soon, Milan will have to narrow down the very long list of coaches that are in the running.

Sergio Conceicao is one of the favourites but he still has important games at FC Porto to navigate before he can focus on the idea of a new job. Fellow Portuguese Paulo Fonseca is being chased by Marseille and his current club, Lille.

Names like Roberto Martinez and Domenico Tedesco have been mentioned but they both need to take part in Euro 2024, whilst Mark van Bommel is a name that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is favouring.

Heading outside of Europe, two coaches in the Middle East are linked. Christoph Galtier could leave Al Duhail for Milan, whilst Marcelo Gallardo is also an option.
