GdS: Milan player ratings for Dortmund draw – a mixed bag for the attack

AC Milan fired a blank again in the Champions League as they were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against Borussia Dortmund last night.

Both sides will feel like they had chances to win it, with Dortmund on top in the opening 45 minutes but with Olivier Giroud and Samuel Chukwueze missing golden opportunities in each half for the Rossoneri.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have published their ratings for the game this morning, starting with the team’s overall performance and Stefano Pioli’s management of the contest, both of which were given a 6.5 out of 10.

Rafael Leao was the best performer on the field in the eyes of the paper as he got a 6, while Olivier Giroud struggled with the pace and intensity of the game, missing a big chance too and getting a 5.

Mike Maignan had a fairly quiet night all told and got a 6, while full-backs Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez were both careless in each phase and scored a 5.5.

The centre-back pairing of Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori drew praise, with the former Schalke man getting a 6.5 on his return to Germany and the Englishman a 6.

In midfield Yunus Musah rose to the occasion, being awarded a 6.5, with Tijjani Reijnders scoring half a point less and Tommaso Pobega recording a 5.5, which is the same as Christian Pulisic got.

Yacine Adli did well off the bench to change the pace of the game and scored a 6.5, while Samu Chukwueze missed two good chances and got a 5.5, and Noah Okafor a 6.
