GdS: Milan preparing a renewal for Giroud – the plan for next season

Olivier Giroud turned 37 six days ago but the Frenchman has no intention of hanging up his boots at the end of the season. And AC Milan are now preparing a contract renewal, a report claims.

Giroud didn’t have the best of games against Dortmund earlier this week, missing a big chance in the first half. It remains to be seen if he will start against Genoa tomorrow or not, but he’s surely eager to redeem himself.

As reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see the featured image), Milan are ready to offer Giroud a one-year renewal. The striker will be free to negotiate with other clubs in January and the Rossoneri thus want to act quickly.

Milan’s idea is also to sign a new striker, as the newspaper concludes, so that Giroud won’t be the starter for next season. Medhi Taremi remains an option, but there are also many others that are unknown for now.

Giroud could play from start tomorrow as well, per the newspaper, and he will be looking for a late birthday goal. In 93 games with the Rossoneri, he has scored 36 goals and could look for 50+ with the renewal.
