AC Milan will not sack head coach Stefano Pioli if the club fail to miss out on the top four this season, according to a report.
When he was hired back in late 2019, it seemed as though Pioli would just be an interim solution for Milan until the end of the season, and rumours then grew suggesting that Ralf Rangnick would arrive to replace him in time for the 2020-21 campaign.
However, back in July 2020, Stefano Pioli was confirmed as Milan coach, with the renewal of his contract until 2022 and the abandonment of the Rangnick hypothesis that had generated so many noises for months.
Pioli led the club on an incredibly unbeaten run post-lockdown last year, but struggles have began to manifest themselves in recent weeks and in 2021 Milan have not been nearly as effective, causing doubts over a top four finish to grow.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri management have no plans to sack Pioli even if a return to the Champions League is not secured. In the meantime the former Lazio and Inter boss has passed Gattuso as the longest-serving coach on the Rossoneri bench since Allegri.
