As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian midfielder who left Milan this summer for Newcastle United in the Premier League may be spared having to face the Milan fans so soon.

He has been left out of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad for the Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine which is being held at the San Siro.

He has a muscle strain that they are not going to risk, but Newcastle and Milan’s first Champions League group game is next Tuesday and he is now a doubt for that match.

Yesterday the former Rossoneri player underwent medical tests at the Columbus clinic in Milan. It is not yet clear what sort of reception Tonali would get from the Milan fans, but we may not find out next week.
