GdS: The moment Milan’s leaders began to lose faith in Giampaolo

AC Milan head coach began to lose his backing after the change in approach following the defeat to Udinese in round one, a report claims.

Giampaolo’s position is under severe threat, several outlets have stated, despite a win over Genoa at the Marassi on Saturday.

Prior to that victory, the Rossoneri had lost four of their first six league games to start the season, something which hadn’t happened since 1938.

On Monday, il Corriere della Sera stated that ‘the percentages of his sacking have become very high’ – with Luciano Spalletti the number one target to replace him.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), things in fact began to turn sour over a month ago.

Giampaolo worked on his preferred 4-3-1-2 formational all summer long with Suso as a trequartista, but after the first defeat in Udine he suddenly decided to change and turn 4-3-3 to move the Spaniard to his usual wide right position.

The club have not been convinced by his tactical choices so far, coupled with the lack of integration of the six new purchases made in the summer, the report adds.

Finally, the public statements made by Giampaolo have apparently left Elliott perplexed more than once, and now ‘his fate is marked’.
