GdS: Why Milan are clinging on to strategy of not loaning out Daniel Maldini

Daniel Maldini has been linked with a loan move to SPAL over the last 24 hours but it’s a hypothesis that died very quickly. The youngster will remain at AC Milan and there is a clear strategy behind that.

SPAL could have been a good destination for the attacking midfielder as the Milan-owned striker Lorenzo Colombo plays there. The two could have linked up again, therefore, after playing a lot together in the Primavera.

However, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan’s strategy on Maldini is clear. They want to keep him and let him grow with the help of experienced players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud.

One could argue that a loan would do him better as it would guarantee playing time, but that isn’t always the case. Marco Brescianini is currently on loan at Monza and he hasn’t been getting much playing time at all, which you can read about here.
