AC Milan head coach Marco Giampaolo has admitted he supported rivals Inter growing up, and has pledged to never resign from the Rossoneri.
Giampaolo is under huge pressure having lost four of his first six games as Milan boss, something which hasn’t happened to the club in over 80 years.
There is speculation that Saturday’s game against Genoa represents a do-or-die situations for Giampaolo to save his job, with a number of possible replacements mentioned.
La Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday reported that there will be a number changes to the Milan XI for the game as the former Sampdoria boss looks to find a winning formula.
Now, Giampaolo has offered his thoughts on the current situation, insisting that resigning has not crossed his mind.
“We’re working to do better. We were already working at 8 this morning,” he told Le Iene (via Football Italia).
“You say I work a lot but work badly? We’ll find the solution. Resigning? Never! Leaving means giving up and we never give up.”
“I said I supported Inter until I was 10, but I’m not a Trojan horse. We’re not budgeting for a bad result against Genoa.
“We’re working to eat the panettone. Our objectives are always at the maximum, we always think about doing our best.
“Milan are above individual interests.”
Krzysztof Piatek is on a dry spell in front of goal with two goals so far this season but none from open play.
There was speculation for il Corriere dello Sport that Giampaolo would be happy for the Poland international to leave in January amid links with Barcelona and Manchester United.
On Piatek, he added: “Those who know how to score don’t forget how to do so. It happens, there are always runs and bad patches.”
