Giornale: Morata ‘approaching’ Milan as contract is prepared – the details

A report this morning has claimed that AC Milan are making the final steps towards making Alvaro Morata one of their first signings of the summer with the financials becoming clearer.

For months, Joshua Zirkzee was the leading candidate to replace Olivier Giroud, but in the 11th hour, Milan have stepped away from their pursuit of him due to the financial aspects of the deal. Whilst there are two ways of viewing the situation, it could be viewed much differently if the Rossoneri didn’t have alternate options in the works.

One of the options, and the one they are pursuing heavily, is Alvaro Morata, and it seems that this summer will be the mercato where the Diavolo make the Spaniard their own.

As Il Giornale (via Milan News) reports, there is a contract until 2028 awaiting the Atletico Madrid striker after the European Championship concludes, and the Rossoneri are prepared to pay the €13 million release clause in his contract.

Whilst a move will not be expected to be finalised for a while after the ending of the Euros, Milan being in the position to make their offer immediately after its conclusion will bode well in the striker’s mind, and with Ibrahimovic consistently speaking to him, a deal could be well on the cards.
