MN: Giroud scoring again after post World Cup fog – Pioli will lean on him vs. Spurs

Stefano Pioli continues to trust Olivier Giroud with leading the attack and that will not change when he faces a familiar opponent in Spurs, a report claims.

MilanNews writes that since losing the World Cup final Giroud has struggled in terms of his physical condition given France went to the final but also in terms of scoring goals. The Frenchman continues to start games but because of the trust that coach Pioli has in him and due to the lack of alternatives.

Giroud has scored in back to back home games, against Sassuolo and the winner against Torino on Friday night, which has justified Pioli’s choice to lean on the 36-year-old even after his less than impressive performances.

Although Origi, Rebic and also Ibrahimovic are back (the latter being left out of the squad list for the Champions League), Giroud will remain the man to lead the line even on Tuesday. He already knows Spurs, having scored against them four times during his spells with Arsenal and Chelsea.
