One of the most contentious issues that the AC Milan management will have to grapple with over the coming weeks is the renewal of Rafael Leao, and some calculations have emerged.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning (via MilanNews) have put some numbers out there as an indicator regarding how much Milan would have to pay as a total sum if they were to renew Leao’s deal.
Leao’s requests are €7m net per season for a five-year deal but it cannot be excluded that an agreement can also be found halfway, at around €6m therefore. The Rossoneri would benefit from the Growth Decree tax relief scheme, but would pay about €45-50m over the five years on salary.
However, to this the compensation owed to Sporting CP must be added, with the paper reporting that around €15m is owed for a total that is around €60-65m therefore.
Milan would be left with a dilemma: either they pay what is required to hold on to a top player or they would be forced to look into selling him, while it is mentioned that the Charles De Ketelaere operation will not exceed €50m when including fee and gross salary.
