The brace of Olivier Giroud in the derby win over Inter on Saturday night meant that the Rossoneri were not exactly left to rue the absence of the Swede, who could also miss a couple more games as he continues to try and shake off tendon inflammation.

Ibrahimovic has 19 appearances in the current season overall with 8 goals on the scoresheet, but Calciomercato.it reports that Milan will make assessments in the coming months about his future, given he will turn 41 later this year. The qualities and personality of the Swede are not in question, but it is the physical integrity of the player makes the management reflect.

The salary of €7m net per season (part fixed part bonuses) will weigh on the analysis of Milan, who are looking for a young profile on the market to modernise Pioli’s attacking department. The next few months will be decisive, with some sort of a turning point needed.
