He was suggested as a candidate before and after Massimiliano Allegri and there were certainly tangible suggestions on both occasions.
Looking at the pre-Allegri links, he was considered a post-Sergio Conceicao option, but he opted to sign a renewal with Bologna instead. Rubbing salt into the wound after beating the Rossoneri in the Coppa Italia final.
Then, with a departure from the Rossoblu possible this summer, he was named as a potential target, but Ruben Amorim was chosen instead, with rumours never really taking off.
