Milan signed Jashari for around €35m last summer, showing just how much they believe in him, but it perhaps hasn’t been the brightest of starts. On the other hand, a serious injury at the start is mostly to blame for that, while many players often need a season to adapt to Serie A.
In other words, the Rossoneri definitely haven’t given up on him and believe that he could be the perfect heir to Luka Modric. The Croatian’s contract will expire in the summer and a renewal is possible, but eventually he will need to be replaced.
Speaking to Il Foglio, in an interview we highlighted this morning, Jashari discussed his role and agreed that it’s similar to what happened with the former Milan man Pirlo. He also said that Fernando Redondo was a big inspiration to him.
“If my path is similar to Pirlo? It’s true, from attacking midfielder to playmaker. Pirlo was my idol as a kid. I remember his actions, they were perfect. He and Redondo inspired me a lot; they played with an impressive serenity and clarity on the pitch. They knew how to dictate the tempo of the game at any moment,” he stated.
