MN: Kessie remains vital to Pioli’s tactical plans as Barcelona speculation intensifies

The hysteria surrounding Franck Kessie’s future has been constant over the last few months, and AC Milan have found themselves in a strange paradox.

MilanNews reports that Kessie is back at 100% having returned from the African Cup of Nations earlier in the week and he will be a starter in the huge game between Milan and their city rivals Inter. In the first training session back with his team-mates, he apparently ‘amazed everyone with a frightening physical and athletic engine’ which has convinced Pioli to rely on him again.

The Milan boss is thinking of fielding Kessie in the position of attacking midfielder because he would guarantee an ‘obsessive’ cover on Marcelo Brozovic who is pivotal in Inter’s build-up play, and would give a physicality to the Rossoneri’s attacks too.

However, as the news about his good performances in training continue, speculation continue to circulate about his future. It now seems certain that Kessie will not renew his contract with Milan due to the high demands of his entourage from the Rossoneri management, who will not go beyond a certain limit.

Several European clubs are monitoring the Ivorian and among them are Barcelona. While Kessie remains vital to Milan and to Pioli, the management will not give him what he wants and therefore he seems destined to depart on a free in five months.
