Klopp tips ‘world class’ Origi to ‘explode’ at next club amid strong Milan links

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has branded Divock Origi a ‘hero’ and backed him to ‘explode’ whichever club he ends up at amid rumours he will soon sign for AC Milan.

The Rossoneri management know it is a necessity to bolster the attacking options and specifically the centre-forward department where there is currently only the ageing duo of Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (who is out of contract) who are able to play the role, plus the inexperienced 18-year-old Marko Lazetic.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported earlier this week that Origi is very close to joining Milan on a free transfer ahead of next season as he will leave Liverpool when his deal expires. An agreement over terms was found some time ago and all that remains is for a few details to be resolved.

Origi came off the bench and was influential in Liverpool’s 2-0 derby win over Everton as he had a hand in the opening goal and then was in the right place at the right time again to double the lead. After the game, Klopp lauded the Belgian.

“We will never a player like him because if he leaves, he will explode wherever he goes. He is a world class striker, he is a legend and will stay a legend forever,” he said (via InsideMilan).

“He doesn’t always make the squad which is ridiculous, but he is there when we need him every time. He was involved in both games.”
