There is no positive news regarding the recovery of Rafael Leao as the winger is expected to miss the rest of the calendar year due to injury.

As il Corriere della Sera (via MilanLive) writes, yesterday’s session at Milanello – which was only for injured players and not for the rest of the squad – served as a chance to find out how Leao’s condition is progressing. The forward was even trying to recover for the game against Napoli on Sunday having sustained a thigh problem, but unfortunately things have not improved a great deal.
The Portuguese winger is still struggling with a small hamstring injury in his right thigh which was confirmed by the check-ups that Leao underwent yesterday. His 2021 is in fact now over as he will in all probability miss the last two matches against Napoli and Empoli and will return, just like his teammates Rebic and Calabria, after the Christmas break.
Stefano Pioli will likely have to make do with only the recovery of Olivier Giroud for the game against the Neapolitans as his forward department continues to battle problems.
