TMW: Chelsea and Man City still eyeing Leao as release clause issue must be resolved

AC Milan must resolve the issue of a release clause in talks with Rafael Leao over a renewal, with different ideas on the amount it should be.

According to TMW, there is still no fixed date for the arrival of Ted Dimvula in Milan. The French lawyer, who holds Rafael Leao’s power of attorney, is expected by the end of the week but at the moment everything is at a standstill.

The €7m net per season that the Rossoneri are offering – without participating in any way in resolving the dispute with Sporting CP – is enough for Leao. The extension should be four or five years but with the idea that if offers over €120m arrive, Leao can leave.

Chelsea and Manchester City remain keen on Leao, whose father has been in Milan since the weekend waiting for the meeting with Dimvula. There is optimism on both sides, but the release clause knot must be untangled.

Leao has a €150m clause in his current deal and the parties are discussing it. Milan want to keep it at that figure, while Leao’s entourage want to lower it as much as possible.
