Lebron James praises Cardinale and believes he can bring Milan back to ‘glory days’

AC Milan are owned by RedBird Capital and at the held of the American firm is Gerry Cardinale. He has made some important decisions at the club lately and Lebron James has given his stamp of approval.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see below), Lebron James is a passive investor in AC Milan through Main Street Advisors, who helped Cardinale with the purchase of the club. Albeit not directly involved, the basketball legend knows a lot about the Milan project.

Speaking to the newspaper, Lebron shared his thoughts on Milan as a club but also on the ownership of Cardinale. He stated that he’s the perfect man to bring Milan back to its glory days.

“I love European football and I think Milan are a truly special club on and off the pitch. There is a great opportunity to bring Milan back among the top teams and top brands of European football in the world. Milan is a world-class city at the intersection of fashion, sport, entertainment and culture. RedBird are the right owners to bring Milan back to its glory days.

Lebron’s business partner Maverick Carter: “For me, Cardinale is a visionary and Milan is one of the biggest football clubs in the world. I think Gerry and RedBird absolutely can keep Milan at the top of Serie A and bring them back to the top in the Champions League. In general, I believe that American investors can bring a lot of value to European sport, both on and off the field, but I am equally convinced that they can also learn a lot from Europe, especially when it comes to passion. RedBird will be an example,” he stated.

Football, or soccer as they call it, is growing fast in the United States and Milan have already seen a tremendous boost with the signing of Christian Pulisic. Cardinale is working on several fronts to increase the revenue and another priority is the stadium.
