In the 1-1 draw between AC Milan and Salzburg earlier in the week, one of the players that stood out was Maurits Kjaergaard. Not surprising, given that the Rossoneri actually tried to sign him last summer.
Milan began their Champions League adventure with a solid draw against a tough opponent, especially since it was away from home. A couple of players did really well for Salzburg, such as the goalscorer Noah Okafor, but also Kjaergaard.
The attacking midfielder often created space for himself and should have had an assist, but his teammate skied a close-range effort. According to Daniele Longo, this isn’t the first time that Milan have seen him do well.
Last summer, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara opened talks with Salzburg to discuss the Danish international. The interest was concrete but the Rossoneri decided to back down when the demands were revealed: €10m plus a significant resale % clause.
Today, the 19-year-old is worth almost double as he has become a key player for the Austrian side.
